Cold hands with VSD

Constantly freezing hands and feet are a common symptom of VSD, a pathology that negatively affects the work of the cardiovascular system. But besides this, not a life-threatening syndrome, certain serious pathologies manifest themselves in a similar way.

The symptom of cold, freezing hands cannot be ignored. It applies to all people for whom it is generally not typical and arose recently, against a background of health.

If you have known about the diagnosis of VSD for a long time, but cold hands and feet have recently begun to become under stress or after heavy physical exertion, contact your doctor. Additional examination and revision of the therapy algorithm is needed: this sign indicates a worsening of the patient’s condition.

Causes of the pathological condition

Thermoregulation problems arise due to excessive tone, vasospasm of the skin vessels.

Under the influence of internal or external factors, capillaries and small vessels are narrowed, making it difficult for warm blood to flow to the surface of the body, nerve endings. Because of this, there is a feeling that hands and feet are freezing even in the hottest weather.

This is due to a variety of factors. But in the absence of pathology of the cardiovascular system, VSD crises become the main reasons .

Crisis can be provoked by:

  1. severe sudden stress;
  2. prolonged depression;
  3. physical, intellectual, psychological overwork;
  4. a sharp decrease in blood pressure;
  5. hypothermia or overheating;
  6. passive lifestyle.

It is not so difficult to distinguish the hands and feet that are cold during VSD or because of the external temperature: you need to warm your hands. If the problem with thermoregulation is based on vascular pathology, then gloves and mittens will not help to keep warm.

Violates the regulation of vascular tone hypodynamia. The lack of physical activity enhances the body’s negative reactions to any stimuli – stress, air temperature.

Ways to warm hands and feet with VSD

The main remedy for such an unpleasant symptom is complex treatment and physical fitness. At least with the help of daily walks 1-3 kilometers long.

There are other ways to keep warm, improve circulation, and get rid of most of the accompanying VSD symptoms:

  • Alternate periods of physical inactivity with exercise, muscle development exercises. A little massage on frozen hands and feet, a few simple physical exercises, will keep you warm as warm as a heater.
  • Drink the right amount of fluids each day to maintain normal circulation.
  • Morning contrast shower removes cold sensations for 2-6 hours. The procedure trains the vascular tone control system, stabilizes it. People who regularly practice such water procedures are less likely to suffer from attacks of VSD. They react more easily to changing weather. A contrast shower is a good way to reduce your weather sensitivity.
  • If you need to spend a long time in a sitting position, choose a position in which the vessels of the lower extremities and veins are not pinched. A leg thrown over the other leg worsens the permeability of the vessels, the more if you stay in this position for a long time.
  • Try to avoid stressful situations. If it is impossible to rearrange your life to avoid them, learn to counteract them. This will be helped by drugs prescribed by a doctor and regular sessions with a psychologist, who will teach you how to react to situations that cause severe anxiety without harming the nerves.
  • Work with a psychologist for phobias, if any. Against the background of exacerbation of VSD, fears become active and intensify negative symptoms.

Do not try to keep warm with tea or coffee in large quantities. The effect achieved will be temporary, as both drinks have a diuretic effect. Subsequently, this can lead to dehydration, thickening of the blood and eventually worsening symptoms.

Temper your legs and arms with contrasting water treatments.

In no case should alcohol be used as a remedy for a symptom. It gives only a temporary effect, and itself is the cause of dystonia, due to which the hands and feet freeze with VSD.

Treatment

Cold hands and feet with VSD are one of the spectrum of symptoms typical for people with this syndrome. Often combined with numbness of the limbs.

We do not notice most of the signs, we attribute them to the mood, the influence of the weather. In fact, even a slight feeling of freezing, if it occurs regularly, is a reason to consult a doctor. A comprehensive examination will be required to confirm the presence of vegetative vascular dystonia and exclude another pathology with similar symptoms.

Before diagnosing and prescribing therapy, the doctor not only finds out the symptoms, collects anamnesis and tries to establish the cause of poor health, but also prescribes instrumental examinations, consultations with doctors of related specialties.

The feeling of coldness in the limbs is not only with vegetative dystonia.

This can be a symptom of diabetes, thyroid pathology.

Such diseases must be ruled out.

After the final diagnosis is made, complex therapy is prescribed. The scheme includes non-drug methods of treatment and medication, if necessary.

Medication approach

In difficult cases, consultations with a psychologist and medications are beneficial:

  • nootropics, tranquilizers, allowing you to quickly calm down in a stressful situation, to level the sleep pattern;
  • antidepressants;
  • drugs that stabilize the work of the cardiovascular system;
  • multivitamin complexes, additional useful substances, depending on the results of blood tests.

Non-drug approaches

Regular light physical activity is an important condition for improving your well-being. You can take long walks in the fresh air, ride a bicycle, roller skates, scooter (not electric), swim in the pool.

The following procedures are considered effective from a therapeutic point of view:

  • transcranial magnetic stimulation;
  • peripheral magnetic stimulation;
  • bioresonance therapy;
  • massages;
  • reflexology;
  • special complexes of exercise therapy;
  • Spa treatment.

The patient is advised to reconsider the lifestyle. Give up bad habits, as smoking has been proven to cause this symptom. You also need to change the principles of daily nutrition.

Sports that require physical activity should be abandoned.

Vegetovascular dystonia is a chronic disease. To prevent attacks from returning again, you need to regularly take preventive measures throughout your life. And regularly undergo recommended examinations, courses of preventive therapy.
